Pittsfield Boys Edge McCann Tech
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Bashiru Sowe scored in the 51st minute to break a 1-1 tie, and the Pittsfield boys soccer team Friday went on to a 2-1 win over McCann Tech.
The Hornets struck first in the 38th minute when Zach Howland set up Ashton Solomon to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
But that lead was short-lived.
Samseedy Touray scored with an assist from Drake Thompson to tie it for the Generals a minute later.
“McCann gave us a battle all game long,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “I’m proud of how we responded after giving up the goal late in the first half. It was really important to find that equalizer before halftime to give the boys a little confidence.”
Pittsfield rode that momentum to the game-winner by Sowe, who was assisted by Quinn Schaller.
John Mullen and Reese Cook-Dubin split time in goal for Pittsfield, combining for seven saves.
The Generals (4-9-2) finish the regular season at Mount Greylock on Monday evening.
McCann Tech (7-2-4) waits to hear who it will face in the Western Mass Class C and State Vocational Tournaments.
