Generals Win at Minnechaug
WILBRAHAM, Mass. – Carlos Lagos scored a pair of goals Monday to lead the Pittsfield boys soccer team to a 3-1 win over Minnechaug.
After a scoreless first half, the Falcons took a lead in the 50th minute.
Three minutes later, Lagos scored the equalizer.
“I’m really proud of the team’s response after going down 1-0 early in the second half,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “They didn’t drop their heads and feel bad for themselves. Instead, they raised their game and energy to new levels. The defense played extremely well and were able to keep many of their shots from outside the box. This is a big momentum shifting win for our program.”
And, in the 70th minute, Armando Correas set up Lagos for the game-winner.
In the last five seconds, Nelson Lagos added an insurance goal.
Reese Cook-Dubin made six saves to earn the win in net.
The Generals (2-2) host Agawam on Thursday.
