Matthews Scores Twice, Pittsfield Boys Win on Road

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- Carter Matthews scored twice and set up a goal as the Pittsfield boys soccer team Saturday earned a 3-2, comeback win at East Longmeadow.
 
After a scoreless first half, the hosts grabbed a lead two minutes into the second half.
 
Matthews responded a minute later with an assist from Luke Peplowski, starting a string of three straight PHS goals.
 
Sam Higuera scored in the 56th minute, and moments later Gabe Rich set up Matthews to give the Generals a 3-1 lead.
 
Avi Snowise stopped eight shots to earn the win for Pittsfield (4-1).
 
The Generals are home on Tuesday afternoon against Longmeadow.
