Millionaires Rally to Tie Mount Everett
SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Ahmet Yildiz scored back-to-back goals in the last 18 minutes of play to give the Lenox boys soccer team a 3-3 tie with Mount Everett on Wednesday.
The Eagles jumped on top early with a goal from Philip Enoch in the sixth minute. But the visitors’ Renzo Merino scored the equalizer nine minutes later.
Darius Taliaferro capped an eventful 25 minutes to open the game when he converted an assist from Kyle Sermini to put Mount Everett ahead, 2-1.
Guthrie Davis gave the Eagles a two-goal lead in the opening stages of the second half, converting an assist from Taliferro.
“Lenox called a time out and had a real world conversation about digging deep and getting back in the game,” Millionaires coach Jedd Hall said. “The talk proved to be fruitful at the 20-minute mark [of the second half]. Lenox forward Ahmet Yildez broke through the back line and scored a screamer to bring it to 3-2.
“With about five minutes left, Lenox again found its mojo and scored an equalizer to bring the game to 3-3 for the final score.”
Tristan Pritchard had an assist on Yildez’ first goal.
“It wasn't pretty, but good teams find a way to get back in the game and keep pushing until the end,” Hall said. “Credit to a very game and capable Mount Everett team who showed up with heart and passion and to Lenox who found a way to give them the tie.”
The Eagles (3-1-2) go to McCann Tech on Thursday.
Lenox (2-2-2) is at Easthampton on Friday.
