Smith Vocational Girls End McCann Tech's Run
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Five days after getting knocked out of the game with a blow to the head in the State Vocational final at Smith Vocational, McCann Tech’s Bella Lefevre returned to the field and made 14 saves, but it was not enough as the Vikings earned a 6-0 win in the Division 5 State Tournament on Wednesday.
“I am extremely proud of a wonderful season,” Hornets coach Lindsay Lincoln said. “We played hard up until the last whistle and held a 0-0 game for a good portion of the minutes tonight against a highly skilled smith squad.”
McCann Tech finishes the year with a record of 8-6-5, including an 0-3-1 record against 12th-seeded Smith Voc, which moves on to the Round of 16.
“We moved up a [league] this year and still managed a winning record season, and qualified for three tournaments,” Lincoln said, referring to the Western Mass, State Vocational and D5 tourneys. “Beyond all, we had fun, learned important lessons and truly enjoyed our time together. Our seniors will be missed and I appreciate all they brought to the team this year. I’m already looking forward to next season and can’t wait to see how hard the girls work in the off season.”
