NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- There was plenty to celebrate in the McCann Tech girls' soccer team's 2-0 win over Franklin Tech on Monday.

Junior Mary Nguyen celebrated her 13th and 14th goals of the season, while senior Becky Daniels and the rest of the Hornets' defense celebrated their sixth shutout of the year. The biggest reason to cheer for McCann, however, was the fact that it qualified for the Division 3 Western Mass. tournament.

Mike Dowling's club improved its overall record to 9-4-1 (9-0-1 in the Tri-County League) by outshooting the Eagles 16-4 in the game. Nguyen scored both of goals unassisted, finding the back of the net in both the 37th and 52nd minutes of the game. Daniels only needed to make four saves to earn the shutout, while Jessie Keene stopped 10 shots in net for Franklin.

The Hornets next play a pivotal game at fellow Tri-County frontrunner St. Mary's at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
