SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Alexa Durant and Jordan Prevey got the party started, but it was Mary Nguyen who blew out the candles on the McCann Tech girls' soccer team's 6-0 road win over Putnam on Friday.

Durant and Prevey each scored goals three minutes apart late in the first half to give the Hornets (4-0, 3-0) a 2-0 lead. Nguyen then joined the party, finishing off a pass from freshman Monique Martel with 75 seconds left before halftime. Once the McCann senior got going, she was awfully hard to stop. Nguyen added three more goals in the first 16 minutes of the second half, giving her four tallies on the day and bringing her career point total to 99. Nguyen will try to hit the 100-point mark when the Hornets host Renaissance at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Durant finished with a goal and two assists on the day, while senior captain Alex Lincoln also came through with two assists of her own. Junior Alex Wood and freshman Abbi Luczynski split time in the McCann goal, each finishing with two saves on the day. Beavers' goalie Brianna Spaudling had a much busier day, finishing the game with 15 stops.
