SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Hudah NgoyNkulu scored late in the first half to give the Mount Everett girls soccer team a 1-0 win over Taconic on Monday afternoon.
 
Emily Steuernagle set up NgoyNkulu for the game-winner in the 33rd minute.
 
“Both teams played well with each having opportunities,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “It’s good to see both teams continue to compete and battle. I’m proud of our girls for finding a way today to lock it down on defense as well as put one in the back of the net.”
 
Emma Goewey made five saves to earn the shutout in goal.
 
Leeyia Hoose made nine saves for Taconic (1-14), which hosts Drury on Friday.
 
Mount Everett (3-9-2) hosts Hoosac Valley on Tuesday.
