Hoosac Offense Erupts in Win over Everett

CHESHIRE, Mass. — If there's one way to get over a brutal, last-second loss to a division rival, it's scoring four goals in the first 10 minutes of your next game.

That's just what the Hoosac Valley girls' soccer team did on Thursday, finding the back of the net early and often in a 7-0 home win over Mount Everett. The Hurricanes (3-1) didn't let Tuesday's last-second 2-1 loss to Mount Greylock linger for long, getting a goal from senior Danielle Beauchemin just 73 seconds into the game.

Junior Megan Rodowicz added a second goal for Hoosac a minute and a half later before classmate Courtney Hayer scored twice more before the game was 10 minutes old. The hosts outshot the Eagles (2-5) 17-1 in the game and later padded their lead with goals by Lily Kronick and Megan Richardson in the second half. Richardson started the game in net for the 'Canes, but came out of the goal to score her team's final two goals in the last six minutes of the game.

Hoosac next hosts Pittsfield at 4 p.m. on Monday.
