WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- If Monday's game between the Hoosac Valley and Mount Greylock girls' soccer teams is any indication of how things are going to go in the South Division this year, fans should be in for one exciting season.

The Hurricanes and Mounties brought plenty of offense and battled back and forth the entire game, only to see the contest end in a 4-4 tie. Hoosac freshman Marissa Felter scored her second goal of the game at the 72-minute mark to give her squad a 4-3 lead, but Greylock junior Alexa Adams had one more thing to say. Adams took a pass from senior Erin Ostheimer that caromed out to the 18-yard line and nailed a shot into the left panel of the net that tied the game for good with just over three and half minutes left in the game.

Junior Alex Majetich scored the game's first goal and later assisted on two other ones early in the second half that gave the Mounties (1-0-1) a 3-2 lead. Junior Alexandra De Veaux and senior Annie Flynn finished off passes from Majetich, but the 'Canes (0-0-1) tied the game again in the 62nd minute when sophomore Alyssa Bush scored off a feed from senior Miranda Gajda. It was a very productive game for Gajda, who tied the game with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute and helped her Hoosac take the lead by setting up Felter for her first goal 29 minutes into the game.

Both goalkeepers were very busy througout the game. Megan Richardson made eight saves for the Hurricanes, while Margot Besnard stopped nine shots for Greylock.

The Mounties next play at Mohawk at 4:30 on Wednesday, while Hoosac returns to action with a home game against Mount Everett at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
