Mount Greylock Girls' Run Ends in Round of 16
SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – Savannah Gauron scored midway through the first half to break a scoreless tie, and fourth-seeded Hamilton-Wenham went on to a 2-0 win over Mount Greylock in the second round of the Division 4 State Tournament on Saturday.
Addie Cooper made nine saves for the 13th-seeded Mounties, who finish the season with a record of 15-3-1.
“We battled, but Hamilton-Wenham proved to be too deep and talented,” Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. “Addie Cooper played great in net and GG Nicastro worked very hard defensively all afternoon long.
“It's the end of the line for Nora Lopez, Maddie Powell, Arianna Henderson, and Maddie Drake, and it will be very difficult to replace all their contributions on and off the field.”
