Pittsfield Soccer Players Face Discipline After Incident in Holyoke
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Student-athletes from the PIttsfield High and Holyoke High girls soccer teams faced disciplinary action after an on-field altercation during their Oct 8 game in Holyoke.
“The student-athletes involved were disciplined appropriately by the school and Athletic Department to ensure accountability for their actions, and to uphold the expectations and values of our school and athletic community,” Pittsfield athletic director Brandon Rousseau said in a written statement.
Rousseau confirmed that ADs from both schools reviewed video of the incident the next day and agreed on the punishments in addition to the penalties given out on the field.
The Pittsfield girls are enjoying a 7-4-2 season after two straight wins. On Monday, they will be at Chicopee Comprehensive before coming home to face Taconic at Berkshire Community College on Tuesday evening in a girls-boys double-header between the schools.
