Wright's Goal Gives Pittsfield Girls Playoff Win

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The No. 6 seeded Pittsfield girls soccer team defeated No. 11 Amherst, 1-0, Monday afternoon in the first round of the Division 1 Western Massachusetts tournament. 
 
The Generals were able to hold onto the lead throughout 55 minutes of play after scoring a first half goal with 15 minutes, 32 seconds on the clock.
 
The lone goal of the game came off an outside cross from senior Trinity Cookis. Senior Amanda Wright received the ball and put it on net giving Pittsfield the 1-0 lead going into the second half, that they held  through the final 40 minutes.
 
Pittsfield goalie Allie Hunt had three saves for the shutout. 
 
The Generals will now travel to Wilbraham for the quarter finals to take on No. 3 Minnechaug, who they faced in the finals last year and fell 1-0.
