LENOX, Mass. -- Mary Elliot scored three goals Monday to lead the Lenox girls soccer team to a 5-0 win over Ware in the Class D Western Massachusetts quarter-finals.

Solia Herndon-Schmid scored twice and set up a pair of goals for Lenox, which advanced to host Wednesday’s regional semi-final against Mount Everett, a 3-1 winner over Smith Academy on Monday.

Elliot scored the eventual game-winner 10 minutes in. The lead ballooned to 3-0 three minutes later.

“After the first three goals we got a little into a lull,” Lenox coach Brian Seminara said. “Ware played some excellent breakaways that our defense and back up keeper Aliza Munch were able to squash.

“I think Ware even came out harder in the second half, and with an attack led by senior captains Mary Elliot and Solia Herndon-Schmid, we were able to capitalize on two more goals.”

Munch finished with six saves to earn the shutout win.
