PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Angelese Ward-Green Thursday recorded 12 kills to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a four-set win over Lee.

The Thunder’s Gracie Cormier had 10 kills after not recording one in the first two sets in the 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19 win.

“A really important win tonight, helping us regain our confidence,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “We won the first set fairly easily but found ourselves fighting to come back from a large early lead by Lee in the second set. We were able to tie the second set up at 23-23, and then a few errors ended it in Lee's favor.

“We once again found ourselves getting off to a slow start in the third set, but this time we plowed through it and won by seven. The fourth set went back and forth most of the way through but we hung on and eventually grabbed the win, holding Lee at 19.”

Sophie Aubin led Taconic with 22 digs. Ella Stodeen had 10 digs and directed the offense with 28 assists while registering a team-high seven aces.

“Ella Stodden and April Soasti (four assists) did a great job of feeding our hitters, and our defense did an awesome job of getting the ball up to the net,” Fyfe said. “Aliyah DelSonno was solid offensively and defensively with her seven kills, five aces, and 15 digs.”

Lexi Masten had 18 digs and seven kills, and Hannah Achurra had 13 digs and eight kills for Lee. Kassidy Clark directed the Wildcats’ offense with 21 assists.

Lee (3-3) hosts Drury on Friday.

Taconic (1-3) goes to Chicopee on Saturday.
