Taconic Upsets Baystate in Five Sets

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Fernanda DeSiqueira recorded 12 kills Monday to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a five-set, upset victory over Baystate Charter in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class B Tournament.

 

DeSiqueira also pulled up six digs, served five aces and had a pair of blocks in the 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 22-25, 18-16 win.

 

Ella Stodden directed the offense with 32 assists and pulled up nine digs.

 

Sophie Aubin had a team-high 20 digs. Lexy Murphy-Malloy finished with 13 digs and six kills, and Aliyah DelSonno had 12 digs, eight kills and seven aces for the sixth-seeded Thunder.

 

The win was Taconic’s fifth in a row in its eighth five-set match this season.

 

The Thunder (10-9) move on to the regional semi-finals against No. 2 Wahconah, a three-set winner over Chicopee on Monday.
