Taconic Responds After Slow Start

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Gracelyn Cormier had nine kills, and the Taconic volleyball team came back from a first set loss to earn a four-set win over Chicopee on Friday.

 

Kiara Burston passed out 13 assists and pulled up a pair of digs in the 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-12 win.

 

“We found ourselves down 6-18 in the first set which didn't make me nervous, just kind of frustrated,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “We were playing like we had all just met. We took a time out when we were down 9-20, reset our brains, and then started to play some really good volleyball.”

 

Kiera Yee had eight kills and four blocks to dominate the front line, and Hayden Haecker backed up Burston with five assists.

“We are now 2-0 in the midst of a tough week facing Lenox Tuesday and Mt Greylock Thursday next week,” Fyfe said. “We are in the right state of mind going into next week, and we did some things tonight that were both really smart and really impressive.

 

“This is a great start in reaching one of our goals which is to qualify for states and setting us up to only need to win 8 more times in our next 18 matches.”
