Taconic Volleyball Falls in Five Sets at Home

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Taconic volleyball team Monday bounced back after losing the first two sets but ended up dropping a five-set decision to Ludlow.

 

Gracie Cormier led the offense with seven kills. Isla DiMassimo pulled up 21 digs, and Kiara Burston passed out nine assists in the 25-21, 25-22, 26-28, 15-25, 16-14 loss.

 

DiMassimo and Adriana Soasti each served seven aces for the Thunder.

 

“We took a much needed timeout in the 3rd set while down 16-19 and things going in Ludlow's favor,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “This timeout turned things around, and we were able to refocus and get pumped up again. In fact, it got us a 28-26 win in that third set and an eye-opening 25-15 point win in the fourth.

 

“Was it a desperation push by Ludlow, on were we losing our focus in the fifth? But we found ourselves using a timeout at 5-9 and again at 11-13.”

 

This time, the Lions were able to hold on and take the win.

 

Taconic (2-3) will look to snap a three-game skid on Wednesday when it hosts Lee.
