Taconic Outlasts Lee in Five Sets

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Kiara Burston Wednesday quarterbacked the Taconic volleyball team to a five-set win over Lee.

 

Burston recorded 22 assists in the 25-9, 25-17, 23-25, 24-26, 15-11 win.

 

“After we won the first two sets fairly easily, Lee seemed kicked it up another notch and we weren't able to close the door on them, losing the third and fourth sets by two points each,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “They played really smart volleyball in those two sets in a very similar fashion to Lenox by digging everything up and strategically placing the ball where we would have to work hard to get.”

 

Burston also picked up seven digs while setting up attackers Gracie Cormier and Kiera Lee.

 

Cormier recorded a season-high 13 kills, and Yee put down six kills.

 

Frances Macioge joined Taconic’s starting lineup and made an impression with eight digs and eight assists to go with four aces.

 

Mollie Crawford led the Thunder with eight aces.

 

Taconic (3-3) is at Monument Mountain on Friday.

 

Lee (2-5) hosts the Spartans on Monday.
