Stodden Leads Taconic Past Monument Mountain

PITTSFIELD, Mass – Ella Stodden had a double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs Thursday as the Taconic volleyball team earned a three-set win over Monument Mountain.
 
Stodden also served five aces on a night when the Thunder collected a season-high 23 aces in a 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 win.
 
“In tonight's match we did some really good things and put out some really exciting plays,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “Jadyn had two beautiful hits between blockers, Natalia Dos Santos saw, reacted to and chased down a ball from one end of the court to the other and brought it back into play that you'd never expect anyone to be able to get, Lacey Daly had five aces in a row and Nevaeh Williams ended the night on an incredibly powerful hit.”
 
Williams had a team-high four kills, and Lacey Daley led Taconic with six aces. Natalia Dos Santos pulled up 18 digs.
 
The Thunder (10-4) is home on Friday against Amherst in a battle of Division 3 State Tournament-bound squads. According to the MIAA’s most recent in-season power rankings, Amherst is ranked fourth in D4, and Taconic is ranked 16th.
