PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Ciana Bennett had 29 digs Monday to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a three-set sweep of Monument Mountain.

Bennett also had an ace at the service line and passed out six assists for the Thunder, who improved to 3-0 this fall.

“Not only is it our 3rd 3-0 victory, it's also our third victory over teams that we couldn't beat last season,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “Our success is credited to their hard work in practice,  team unity and numerous offensive options. Our defensive specialists also need to be recognized as they are doing a great job of getting the ball to our setters.

“Monument put out some really nice hits tonight but we were able to dig most of them up and maintain control of the ball on our side of the court.”

Brenna McNeice had seven digs to go with eight kills and 12 assists.

Naomi Tayi pulled up three digs and recorded five kills. Nyashia Daniels had seven kills and seven aces, and Natalia Dos Santos had five digs, two kills, two aces and 18 serve receives.

Taconic goes to Mount Everett on Wednesday.
