Armstrong Leads Lee to Narrow Win over Taconic

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The Lee bowling team Friday edged Taconic, 2-1, in a battle to stay near the top of the the standings of the Berkshire County Bowling League.
 
The Wildcats won the first two games of day by margins of 3-2.
 
In the first game, Lee got head-to-head wins from Jasmine Kearin, Emily Holian and Bella Kotek.
 
In the second game, Lee's winners were Maddie Kotek, MaKayla Schuerer and Aaron Armstrong.
 
Armstrong was the only bowler from either squad to post games of better than 200 in both games, going 226-226 for the day's best series among all the bowlers at Cove, a 452.
 
The Thunder came back and took the point in the Baker format game to end the day a point and get the 2-1 split for the team standings.
 
Taconic's Andrew Robitaille rolled the best single game for any of the league's bowlers on Friday, a 268 that also was the best game of the season so far.
 
The league's best game and series of the day among the girls also came out of the Lee-Taconic match.
 
Lee's Holian rolled a 224 game, and Schuerer had a 391 series in the win.
 
Lee and Taconic were the only two varsity squads going head to head on Friday.
 
Pittsfield competed against the Lee Wildcats, a subvarsity unit, and picked up a 3-0 win behind Ryan Russo's 202-170--372 series.
 
McCann Tech also earned a 3-0 win, beating the Lee Orange squad. Michael Oakes led the way with a 354 series (179-175).
 
Mount Everett defeated the Lee Black squad, 2-1. Finnegan Vion had the Eagles' best game (192) and best series (293).
 
And the Lee JV rounded out the competition with a 3-0 win over Monument Mountain. Devyn Fillio led the way with a 301 series (153-148).
 
The league on Friday makes its first trip north to bowl at Greylock Bowl and Golf in North Adams.
 
First-place Pittsfield will face the Lee Black. The Lee varsity will play the Lee Orange. Taconic will look to bounce back against the Lee Wildcats. McCann Tech will take on Monumnent Mountain in the day's only all-varsity match.
