Mount Greylock Wrestlers Place Third in Opening Meet
HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Jacob Borawski and Logan O'Connell each won an individual title in leading the Mount Greylock wrestling team to a third-place finish at the season-opening Knighthawk Classic on Saturday.
O'Connell went 4-0 on the day, finishing with a third-period pin of West Springfield's Vincent Marini in the 215-pound title bout.
Borawski also won four matches on his way to the title. He stopped South Hadley's Jasiel Ramos in the first minute of their final at 175.
Jayquan Vazquez and Maximus Soto also reached title bouts for Mount Greylock, at 190 and 157, respectively. Each placed second.
Mount Everett brought home a title from the meet.
Max Manning picked up a pin over West Springfield's Maxwell McKenzie at the end of the first round to claim the 150-pound crown.
The Eagles' Ian Lanoue outpointed Frontier's Konnor James, 8-6, in the third-place match at 165.
