Taconic Wrestlers Second at Season-Opening Tournament

ATHOL, Mass. -- Isiaha Hartman, Mike LaFreniere and Zabion Powell each won an individual title to lead the Taconic wrestling team to second-place at a season opening tournament at Athol High School on Saturday.
 
Hartman pinned Natick's Joe Babson in the championship final at 285 pounds.
 
Hartman also earned pins in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
 
At 132, LaFreniere pinned South Hadley's Joe Podalak to win the title. It was LaFreniere's third pin of the tournament.
 
Powell pinned four men en route to the title at 190. He finished his day by stopping Caleb Cox of host Athol.
 
Taconic's Dylan Burke and Shawn O'Shea finished in second place at 182 and 220, respectively. Anthony Roman placed third at 126.
 
Taconic finished with 188 points but was edged by Natick, which compiled 194.5 points. Taconic also entered a B team in the 17-team tournament; it placed 11th with 52 points.
