Taconic Third at Wayland Tourney

WAYLAND, Mass. -- Dylan Burke and Zabion Powell each won individual titles Saturday to lead the Taconic wrestling team to a third-place finish at the Wayland Holiday Tournament.
 
Powell pinned Framingham’s Danillo Da Silva in minutes, 43 seconds to claim the crown at 145 pounds. It was Powell’s fourth pin of the tournament.
 
Burke won by fall in the quarter-finals and semi-finals before taking a 12-2 major decision from Beverly’s Alexi Echevarria in the championship round at 182.
 
Taconic also got runner-up finishes from Zach Mathes at 138 and Shawn O’Shea at 195.
 
Taconic finished with 178.5 points, 16 points ahead of fourth-place Lowell. Framingham won the title with 234.5 points, well ahead of host Wayland, which placed second with 192.5 points.
