Taconic's Murphy Ties for 21st at State Championships

WAYLAND, Mass. -- Taconic's Nate Murphy Monday carded a 6-over-par 78 to tie for 21st place at the State Division 2 Golf Championships at Sandy Burr Country Club.
 
Austin Prep's Max Hampoian went 3-under to win the event and lead his team to a tie for fifth place.
 
Bishop Stang was the team champion with a score of 305 (17-over).
 
Murphy and Wahconah's Pat McLaughlin were competing as individuals based on their performance at last week's Western Massachusetts sectional.
 
McLaughlin finished Monday's state tournament tied for 48th out of 92 competitors at 14-over.
 
The MIAA announced Monday that the Division 3 championship, which will include teams from Lenox and Mount Greylock, has been moved from Tuesday to Nov. 2 at Shining Rock Golf Course.
