McLaughlin Fires 2-Under to Lead Wahconah to Win

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Wahconah's Pat McLaughlin Thursday carded a 2-under-par round of 33 to lead the Wahconah golf team to a 160-179 win over Taconic at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
 
McLaughlin registered four birdies on his way to earning medalist honors as Wahconah improved to 2-0 this fall.
 
"Tremendous golf from our star today," Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. "He picked our entire team up after a mediocre day. We were not prepared for greens putting at that pace. We struggled in that area, and Pat covered us. It was great to watch."
 
After making par on the first hole, he birdied the 560-yard, par-5 second hole.
 
Then he proceeded to birdie the par-5 fourth and par-4 sixth to go to 3-under for his round with three holes left.
 
McLaughlin settled for a bogey on the par-3 seventh hole but got that stroke back with a birdie on the 433-yard, par-4 eighth to go back to three under before closing out the day with a bogey.
 
Tim Kaley (41), Brady Breitmaier (42) and Carter Drake (44) rounded out the scoring for Wahconah.
 
The Thunder as led by Jackson Molleur with a 42. Camdyn McKillop (43), Cam LaFerriere (46) and Matt Sottille (48) also scored for Taconic.
 
Taconic (0-2) hosts Monument Mountain on Friday.
 
Wahconah goes to Mount Greylock on Friday.
