STAMFORD, Vt. -- Michael Kays and Brett Murphy each carded a 4-over-par 40 to lead the Taconic golf team to a five-stroke win over Drury at Stamford Valley Golf Course.

Kyle Rochelo (42) and Tim Curry (42) also scored for Taconic (6-7), which prevailed, 164-169.

It was a very consistent day for Taconic, which saw all six golfers finish at 44 or better. In fact, if Rochelo's and Curry's scores were replaced with Ross Omelenchuck and Connor Champoux (each 44), the team still would have won by a stroke.

Rochelo birdied the first two holes of the day.

Drury's Nick Bator birdied the 430-yard, par-5 fourth hole on his way to an even-par 36 to take medalist honors.

Nick Boulger (42), Chad Lawrence (43) and Reece Racette (48) also scored for Drury (4-9).

The county's top high school golfers head to Stockbridge on Sunday for the Berkshire Classic individuals tournament.
