Depth Propels Hoosac Valley Past Lenox

ADAMS, Mass. – The Hoosac Valley golf team’s last two finishers carded rounds of 42 and 43 on Monday to lift the Hurricanes to a 10-stroke win over two-time defending Western Massachusetts Champion Lenox on opening day of the Berkshire County season.
 
No. 6 Gabe Thomas finished at 42, and No. 5 Zach Mongeon carded a 43 at Forest Park as Hoosac Valley started the season with a 174-184 win over the Millionaires.
 
“Great team win for Hoosac on a wet afternoon,” Hurricanes coach Jason Sniezek said. “It was a close match until the final two came in.”
 
Corey Charron matched his teammate Thomas with a 42, and Frank Field and Gabe Bishop rounded out the scoring with matching 47s.
 
Max Shepardson earned medalist honors with a 37 for Lenox. He recorded the day’s only birdies, on the par-3 third and the par-4 ninth.
 
Hunter Shepardson finished at 41 for Lenox, which goes to Southwick on Tuesday.
 
Hoosac Valley hosts Wahconah on Friday.
