Taconic Hills Edges Wahconah Girls Swimming at YMCA

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Taconic Hills (N.Y.) girls swim team posted a 55-second win in the 4-by-100 relay to secure an 86-80 win over Wahconah at the YMCA on Friday afternoon.
 
Taconic Hills finished in 5 minutes, 27.93 seconds to win the season-opening dual meet after Wahconah junior Amelia Berquist won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:39.65 to help her team pull within two points at 76-78 in the next-to-last event.
 
Berquist also swam a leg on her team’s winning 200 free relay quartet (2:17.18) and medley relay (2:39.97).
 
Senior Analise Reardon also swam on the medley relay and posted a victory in the 100 back, finishing in 1:34.72.
 
Wahconah’s boys earned a 72-47 win in a meet that saw each school send just six boys into the pool.
 
Fred Sears, Joshua Kunzman and Jacob Kunzman each was a double-winner for Wahconah. Joshua won the 200 freestyle (2:46.72) and 50 free (30.80). Jacob won the 100 butterfly (1:13.33) and 100 backstroke (1:14.93). Sears won the 100 free (1:01.77) and 200 individual medley (3:00.66).
