PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- For most of the game, Wahconah’s defense was able to hold Chicopee at bay.

But with 3 minutes, 41 seconds left in the second period, the floodgates opened.

Chicopee scored five goals in 15 minutes en route to a 5-1 win at the Boys and Girls Club.

Spencer Clark scored twice, and Trevor Seidell-Poirier had a goal and two assists for the Pacers, who led 5-0 before Ryan LaPierre was able to tip home a Connor Champoux blast from high on the right side with 30 seconds left to play.

Jake Risley finished with 33 saves for Wahconah. He had 20 before Seidell-Poirier broke up a 0-0 game.

“The goaltender showed up to play, and the rest of us, I don’t know,” Wahconah coach Matt Risley said. “We didn’t put the effort in we need to put in, and they didn’t play together like they need to play. That’s the result when we come with that kind of effort.

“I didn’t see the effort that I need to see from my team for us to be able to compete. They outskated us, they outplayed us, they got to the loose pucks. … [Shots were] 27-3 after two periods. Three shots isn’t going to get it done.”

Wahconah goes to Belchertown on Friday.
