Local Bowlers Take Silvers at State Championships

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- McCann Tech's Aleasia Yeaton and Drury's Kaitlyn Mongeon Sunday placed second and third, respectively, in the girls individuals competition at the State High School Bowling Championships.
 
Mongeon edged teammate Olivia Mazzacco in the three-four match to earn a berth in the semi-finals against Worcester Tech's Mia Stolakis.
 
Stolakis won that match and moved on to the final against Yeaton, who was seeded first after individual play.
 
Stolakis won the state title with a 236-203 win in the final.
 
Her teammate, Paul West, also won an individual title, knocking off Assabet's David Ramirez-Granick in the final.
 
In Saturday's team State Championships, Worcester Tech won the team title, defeating Wahconah in the championship match.
 
The Eagles ended the qualifying round in first place in the A Division with 2,437 pins. 
 
Wahconah (2,383) was second while Pittsfield (2,374) and Lee (2,371) were third and fourth, earning spots in the semi-finals.
 
Worcester Tech defeated Lee and Wahconah topped Pittsfield head-to-head in the semis to set up the championship match.
 
It was the second year in a row Worcester Tech topped Wahconah in the team final.
