Wahconah Boys, Monument Girls Earn Wins in Alpine Opener

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Dominic Scalise placed third Monday to lead the Wahconah boys Alpine ski team to a first-place finish in the season opener of the Bekrshire County League at Bousquet.
 
The Monument Mountain girls took first in their team competition in the giant slalom event behind Paige Lussier and Loghan Strzepa, who finished third and fourth, respectively.
 
The first girl across the finish line was Lenox's Madison DiGrigoli, who clocked a time of 48.03 seconds, just ahead of runner-up and teammate Gabriella Hall.
 
Monument's Lussier finished in 51.71 to take third place. The Spartans put five racers in the top 10 on the way to taking the team win.
 
In the boys race, Max DiGrigoli won in 44.22 to give Lenox a double at the top of the podium.
 
He was followed by Pittsfield's Charlie Heimann, who crossed the line in 44.97.
 
Three Wahconah racers finished in the top 10. Mitchell Scalise and Vincent Scalise finished in sixth and seventh, respectively, to help bck up Dominic.
