McLaughlin, Wahconah Dominate in Opener

DALTON, Mass. – Pat McLaughlin led three Wahconah players in the 30s on Monday as the team earned a 155-196 over Lee at Wahconah Country Club.
 
McLaughlin birdied the par-3 13th hole and finished his day with an eagle on the par-5 18th to take medalist honors at 1-under 36.
 
Tim Kaley eagled the par-5 14th on his way to a 38, and all six Wahconah players registered at least one birdie.
 
“What a great start for our team,” Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. “The back nine always plays tough, and our guys handled it pretty well despite the rain.”
 
Brady Breitmaier matched Kaley with a 38 that included a birdie on the par-3 17th.
 
Vincent Scalise birdied the par-4 12th, and Sam McLaughlin and Carter Drake each carded a birdie on the par-5 16th.
 
Joey Abderhalden led Lee with a 41. The Wildcats host Taconic on Thursday.
 
Wahconah goes to Forest Park to play Hoosac Valley on Friday.
