Shepard Comes Up Big for Mounties in Three-Set Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Lucy Shepard recorded 11 kills, and the Mount Greylock volleyball team survived back-and-forth second and third sets to take a three-set win from Taconic on Monday.
 
Shepard notched six aces and had a pair of digs as the Mounties prevailed, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.
 
“Taconic has some strong servers who can also put pressure on you on offense,” Mount Greylock coach Greg Geyer said. “Ava [Sinopoli], Jenyka [Ostellino], Kacie [Chadwell] and the rest of the team kept every set close.”
 
Chadwell and Sinopolli accounted for five and four kills, respectively. Ostellino had four aces and nine digs.
 
Mount Greylock got eight kills and four digs from Takeira Darrow and 10 digs and four aces from Emma Hayward. Gabby Alvarez had 18 assists and four digs.
 
Mount Greylock hosts Monument Mountain on Tuesday. Taconic is at Duggan on Friday.
