Berkshire Nordic Ski League Goes North to Take on Prospect Mountain

WOODFORD, Vt. -- Mount Greylock's Col McDermott continued his dominance of the Berkshire County Cross Country Ski League with another first-place showing on Saturday at Prospect Mountain.
 
McDermott extended his unbeaten streak this winter and led the Mounties to the top of the leaderboard in the team race.
 
He covered the course in 14 minutes, 46 seconds, finishing 42 seconds ahead of the field.
 
McDermott was joined by four of his teammates in the top 10 as Mount Greylock's boys finished with 22 points, 15 ahead of runner-up Lenox.
 
In the girls race, Lenox was the top team, beating Mount Greylock by 10 points.
 
And Mohawk Trail's Erika Looman won the individual title, crossing the line in 17:51, 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Hollin Keyser-Parker of Northfield Mount Hermon.
 
Lenox was led by Mary Elliot in 18:13 and Aidan Burns in 18:20 to place fourth and fifth, resepectively.
 
Mount Greylock's Jacqueline Wells placed third in 18:09 to lead her squad.
 
After Looman and Keyser-Parker, the Mount Greylock and Lenox girls divided up the next six places.
 
Wahconah's top finisher on the girls side was Haley Crosier, who placed 15th in 19:06. Hoosac Valley's Vienna Mahar was 20th in 20:26.
 
On the boys side, Hoosac Valley finished a strong third in the team standings with 43 points, just six behind runner-up Lenox.
 
Justin Levesque (15:28) and Corben Craig (15:36) were second and third, respectively, to lead the Hurricanes.
 
Lenox's Ted Yee finished fourth in 15:37.
 
The Mounties took places six through nine: Corban Miller, Gabe Gerry, Owen Tucker-Smith and Ollie Swabey.
 
Wahconah's Hayden Kendall led his team by finishing 13th in 16:29.
