Coody Leads Mount Greylock to Tourney-Opening Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock volleyball team Friday came back from an 11-point deficit in the third set to take a sweep from Norfolk Aggie in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.
 
Charlotte Coody was part of 32 points in the 25-16, 25-15, 26-24 win.
 
Coody finished with 15 assists, seven kills, eight aces and two blocks.
 
Kylie Sweren passed out 15 assists to go with five aces and a pair of kills.
 
Celina Savage had 11 kills, and Julia Dechaine had four kills and a pair of aces.
 
After climbing out of a 15-4 hole in the third set, the Mounties gave up a side out at 23-23 to give Norfolk Aggie a chance to serve for the set.
 
Jackie Brannan delivered a kill to get the serve back to DeChaine, who served two points on Savage kills to close out the match.
 
"Norfolk County is a very good ball control team and pushed us all night," Mount Greylock coach Greg Geyer said. "We will be working hard in practice to get ready for the round of 16 matchup next week."
 
Mount Greylock hosts a match to reach the state quarter-finals on Tuesday when Blackstone-Millville visits the Mountie Dome.
