Mount Greylock Nordic Team Opens Season at New York Meet

NORTH CREEK, N.Y. -- Two trios of Mount Greylock boys placed second and third at Friday's Queensbury Relays at the Gore Mountain Nordic Center.
 
Declan Rogers, Ollie Swabey and Luke Irwin finished in 28 minutes, 34.7 seconds to place second behind the winning trio from host Queensbury, which clocked a time of 28.08.8.
 
Mount Greylock's trio of Jude Bakija, Patrick Holland and Nate Gill finished just four seconds behind their Mountie teammates, in 28.38.9, to place third in the field of 27 groups.
 
A third trio of Mount Greylock boys finished fifth at the event.
 
Mount Greylock's top girls trio of Annie Miller, Lauren Miller and Mia Holmgren clocked a time of 36:06.5 to place fifth out of 15 teams in the varsity girls relay.
 
A trio from Lake Placid, N.Y., won the event in 33:19.5.
 
A second Mount Greylock varsity trio placed sixth, in 39:53.5.
 
A trio of Mount Greylock middle schoolers won the modified division, placing first out of nine squads. The Mounties' Eliza Mandel, Bridget Holland and Grace Irwin finished in 26:26.7, 21 seconds ahead of the field.
