BOURNE, Mass. – A short-handed Mount Greylock girls tennis team Tuesday dropped a 4-1 decision at Bourne in the first round of the Division 4 State Tournament.

With its regular first singles and third singles players unable to make the trip east, the Mounties Bridget Igoe stepped up a rung on the ladder and won her first singles match for the only Mount Greylock point.

Igoe defeated Bourne’s McKinley Wendell, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).

Another Mountie who stepped up was Molly Karampatsos, who played her first ever singles match and fell in straight sets.
