Mounties Even Season Series with Wahconah
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Will Svrluga Friday carded a 38 to lead the Mount Greylock golf team to a 164-178 win over previously unbeaten Wahconah at Waubeeka Golf Links.
Svrluga started his day with a double bogey on the first hole and reeled off eight straight pars.
Sam McLaughlin earned medalist honors for Wahconah with a 35 that included birdies on Nos. 5, 7 and 8.
But the Mounties scored four rounds of 44 or better to earn the team win.
Jacob Hillman, Max Wied and Kai Nafziger rounded out the scoring for the hosts, who avenged a loss at Wahconah Country Club earlier this season.
“It was great to see the boys back up yesterday's match [a home win over Taconic] with another solid round,” Mount Greylock coach Erik Tiele said. “What makes it even better is that the scores are coming from different position players.
“[Wahconah coach Pete Terpak] and I have a love-hate relationship. We both love to win and hate to lose. He's had such a solid program, so it’s always nice to grab a win from him. We go back a long ways.”
Hillman, Nafziger and Wied each picked up a birdie for the Mounties.
Mount Greylock (7-1) is at Lee on Monday.
Wahconah (5-1) hosts Taconic on Wednesday.
