Mount Greylock Boys Edge Pittsfield as Mounties' Girls Roll

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Nathan Gill swept the hurdles Wednesday to help the Mount Greylock boys track and field team edge Pittsfield by four points in a three-team dual meet.

 

The Generals had more first-place finishes, but Mounties’ depth proved decisive in keeping them unbeaten this spring.

 

Mason Canata won the 100 and ran the anchor leg on Mount Greylock’s winning 4-by-100 squad.

 

Pittsfield took the other two relays and got a pair of wins apiece from Cohen Zahn in the 800 and 1600 on the track and Samseedy Touray in the long jump and triple jump in the field.

 

In the girls meet, Mount Greylock ran away from Pittsfield and Hoosac Valley with commanding team wins.

 

Cornelia Swabey was a double-winner for the Mounties in the 800 and 1600, and the hosts swept the three relays and first place in the three throwing events.

 

Devin Wendling (long jump) and Sophia Schnackenberg (high jump) each earned wins for the Pittsfield girls to help them beat the Hurricanes.

 

Hoosac Valley’s Libby Kurley won the 100 and 200.
