Mount Greylock Girls Set Rematch with Lenox in Western Mass Final

AMHERST, Mass. – Mount Greylock eighth-grader Alex Franz Sunday won at No. 3 singles to provide the clinching point as the Mounties beat Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter, 3-2, to advance to the championship match of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.
 
Franz took the first set in a tie breaker, 7-6 (7-4) and then rolled to a straight set win.
 
Scarlett Foley also won in straight sets at first singles.
 
The other point for the Mounties came at second doubles, where Maddie Love and Lila Bergeron prevailed.
 
Mount Greylock (11-4) advances to play top-seeded Lenox, a 5-0 winner over St. Mary’s in Sunday’s other semi-final, on a date and at a location to be announced.
 
Lenox won the three regular season matches between the teams.
