GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. - Sam Dils and Toby Foehl rallied from down 3-4 in the third set to earn a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles and give the Mount Greylock boys tennis team a 3-2 win over Monument Mountain on Wednesday in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 semi-finals.

“It was a hard-fought third set from both teams,” Mount Greylock coach Stephen Bryant said after his squad earned the right to take on top-seeded Belchertown (20-2) on Friday in the sectional final at Lee High School.

Third-seeded Mount Greylock (11-1) got singles wins from Jacob Fink at No. 1 and Josh Narey at No. 3.

Fink beat Kadin Shafiroff, 6-4, 6-3. Narey battled past Toby Girona, 7-5, 6-2.

Monument Mountain’s Alec Goffin beat Brady Foehl, 7-5, 6-4, for a point at second singles.

And the Spartans’ tandem of Wilson Sprague and Zack Goffin beat Gabe Gerry and Luke Swann, 6-0, 6-2, at second doubles.

That meant it all came down to Toby Foehl and Dils against Monument’s Jack White and Kevin Costello.

White and Costello took the first set, but Foehl and Dils won the second handily, setting up the dramatic third set.
