Wells, Culver Victorious for Mount Greylock Harriers

LENOX, Mass. -- Freshman Jacqueline Wells finished first for the Mount Greylock girls cross country team, which split the top 11 places with host Lenox in a four-team meet on Wednesday.
 
In the boys race, the Mounties were dominant, taking the first five places, led by senior Sam Culver.
 
Wells finished in 20 minutes, 32 seconds, about 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Ellen Huth of host Lenox.
 
Huth was followed by teammates Maggie Sorrentino and Marion Huth.
 
Mounties Josephine Smith, Katherine Swann, Margo Smith and Miriam Bakija placed fifth through eighth, respectively, before three more Millionaires crossed the line. Ava Bachman, Tate Morrison and Peggy Yee were ninth through 11th.
 
In 12th and 13th, respectively, were a pair of Pittsfield Generals: Cameron Diehl (23:02) and Megan Francoeur. Hoosac Valley was led by Jamie Barthe, who placed 22nd with a time of 24:36. She was followed closely by teammates Natiya Cili and Paige Barrow in 23rd and 24th, respectively.
 
Culver paced the boys with a time of 17:56.
 
He was chased home by teammates Jesse Seid, Josh Cheung, Owen Brandriss and Jacob Fink.
 
The first non-Mountie was Pittsfield’s Paul Wales (18:48) in sixth place. The Generals’ Amin Purry was seventh.
 
Lenox was led by Ryan Silverstein (20:00) in ninth. Hoosac Valley’s top finisher was Justin Levesque (24:38).
