NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Monument Mountain sophomore Lily Haskins-Vaughan cleared 5 feet, 3 inches on Saturday to tie for eighth place in the high jump at the New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Willow Brook Park.

Haskins-Vaughan, who qualified with a jump of 5-2 at the MIAA Meet of Champions earlier this month, went over 5-3 on her third attempt at the regional meet to tie Kayla McCullough of Suffield, Conn.

The New England champion in the event is Portsmouth, R.I., junior Morgan Casey, who cleared 5-7 on her first try and did not have a miss on her first three heights. She got the nod over Audrey Kirkutis of West  Hartford, Conn.'s, Conard High School, who missed at 5-3 before clearing the height and also made it over the bar at 5-7.
