Monument Girls, Wahconah Boys, Greylock Boys and Girls Go 2-0 in Finale
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Maeve Murray ran a time of 24 minutes, 20 seconds Tuesday to pace the Monument Mountain girls cross country team to a 29-30 win over Lee in the final regular season meet of the season.
Host Mount Greylock’s girls dominated the day, taking the top 12 places behind a first-place finish from Cornelia Swabey (21:33), and the Mounties easily took dual meet wins against Taconic an Lee.
But Murray and Monument Mountain also went 2-0 on the day, beating Lee and Wahconah.
Taconic’s girls also edged Wahconah. The Thunder got a 13th-place finish from Shelby Tart, the first non-Mountie to cross the finish line. Wahconah was led by Megan Tucker, who placed 17th.
The top finisher for Lee in the girls race was Charlotte Van Wagner, who placed 21st.
The Mount Greylock boys, like their girls team, cruised to a pair of dual meet wins as Finnegan Voisin (17:33) placed second to lead a group of six Mount Greylock runners in the top 10.
Monument Mountain’s Everett Pacheco was the top boy, clocking a time of 17:13, to help the Spartans go 1-1.
Monument Mountain beat Lee, which got a 12th-place showing from Noah Hassmer, but fell to Wahconah, whose Lake Kittler placed third.
Taconic dropped a pair of dual meets in the boys race, but Shaheem Shelton finished 17th for the Thunder.
Tuesday’s teams will be back in action on Oct. 19 at the county championship at Berkshire Community College.
