Spartans, Mounties Place in Top Six at Mountie Invitational
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Monument Mountain wrestling team Saturday placed two wrestlers in the finals and posted the highest finish among county schools at the 33rd Mountie Invitational at Mount Greylock Regional School.
Christopher St. Peter at 113 pounds and Isaac Hartshorn at 175 each placed second as the Spartans amassed 114 points, putting them 5.5 points ahead of sixth-place Mount Greylock.
South Hadley won the event with 162 points, beating out Otter Valley, Vt., and Colchester, Vt., who were second and third, respectively.
Also helping out the Monument Mountain cause was Ryan Murray, who ended his day with a second-period pin to place third at 285.
Although Mount Greylock was beaten out by Monument Mountain in the team standings, the Mounties did take home as many individual titles as any school with two.
Jacob Borawski beat the Spartans’ Hartshorn in the 175 title bout.
Logan O’Connell earned a major decision over Colchester’s Breydan Marschasaults in the 215 final.
Mount Greylock also got a second place finish from Jayquan Vazquez at 190.
Taconic and Mount Everett finished 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 24-team field.
The Eagles brought home an individual title as Max Manning picked up a third-period pin, his third pin of the day, at 150.
Taconic got a third-place finish from Malikai Lytle at 190 after he pinned Westfield’s Alexander McCann in the second period of their consolation final.
