Phair, Paris Win Cross Country Races at Lee

LEE, Mass. -- Monument Mountain junior Grace Phair placed first overall and led the Spartans to a dual meet win over host Lee in Tuesday's cross country race at Lee High.
 
Phair finished in a time of 12 minutes, 41 seconds to edge Lenox freshman Ellen Huth by a second.
 
The Lenox girls, who were running against Taconic at the meet, took places two through five with Maggie Sorrentino, Marion Huth and Tate Morrison backing up Ellen Huth.
 
Taconic's Mary Hayes placed sixth overall with a time of 14:05. Lee's Olivia Johnson finished 25th with a time of 16:05 to lead the Wildcats.
 
In the boys race, Taconic took a pair of wins behind the one-two finish of Jacob Paris and Brandon Pelkey.
 
Paris paced the field with a time of 11:33. Pelkey placed second in 11:49.
 
Third-place was decided by a hundredth of a second with Ryan Silverstein of Lenox and Peter LaRochelle of Monument Mountain finishing at 11:49.50 and 11:49.51, respectively. Monument's Mike Goretti was next by tenths of a second, finishing with a time of 11:49.92.
 
In addition to Paris and Pelkey, Taconic scored Zabion Powell, Joshy Tayi and Sean Cicchetti, who placed 10th.
 
Girls team scores: Monument Mountain 15, Lee 50; Lenox 16, Taconic 47.
 
Boys team scores: Monument Mountain 17, Lee 46; Taconic 19, Lenox 42; Taconic 22, Monument Mountain 37.
