Pittsfield Boys Edge Taconic

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Pittsfield’s Asa Chard placed sixth overall Wednesday to lead the Generals to a narrow, 29-30, dual meet win over city rival Taconic at Reid Middle School.

 

Chard finished in a time of 19 minutes, 32.64 seconds and got help from teammates Silas Sims, Seth Aitken and Lennox Silvestro-Dias, who placed eighth, ninth and 11th, respectively.

 

The Mount Greylock boys dominated the boys race with the top four finishers and six in the top 10, led by Eza Holzapfel in 18:19.62.

 

The Mounties easily won their dual meets against Pittsfield and Lee. The Generals finished the day with two dual meet wins, topping the Wildcats, who were led by fifth-place Jacob Bianco.

 

Lee’s girls edged Pittsfield behind a seventh-place showing by Emily Holian.

 

The Generals also fell to Mount Greylock despite strong efforts from top finisher Kellie Harrington (19:33.68) and fourth-place Grace Ungewitter.

 

Mount Greylock’s depth proved too much of an obstacle though as the Mounties placed five runners in the top 10, led by runner-up Ainsley Abel.
