Lenox Boys End Season on Dominant Note
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Lenox’s Mackenzie Valenzuela completed her perfect season in the Berkshire County Alpine Ski League, but the Pittsfield girls pulled out a team title that gave the Generals a championship at Monday’s season-ending giant slalom at Bousquet.
Valenzuela hit the finish line in 34.60 seconds, 1.53 seconds ahead of runner-up Reese Albano of Pittsfield.
But Albano and teammates Isabella Scalese, Madeline Harrington and Amaya Rennie pulled out a victory over the Millionaires to secure a two-point margin in the season points standings over Lenox.
For Pittsfield, it was a fourth first-place team finish in six weekly meets
Lenox’s boys, meanwhile, capped their perfect season with their sixth first-place finish in impressive fashion. Oliver Kirby, Kody Lesser, Michael Piretti and Adam Tanner finished first through fourth on Monday night.
All four Millionaires, plus teammate Owen Tanner, are among the eight skiers – based on results throughout the season – who will represent the Berkshire County League at the State Championships. Pittsfield’s boys fill out the other two spots on the state team; Ruben Fried, Reese Cook-Dubin and Colin Behnke qualified in the top eight in the season standings.
Pittsfield placed three girls on the state team. Albano, Scalise and Harrington earned the right to compete on Feb. 24 at Berkshire East along with Lenox’s Valenzuela and Addy, Monument Mountain’s Lucy Dohoney and Kathryn Barquinero and Wahconah’s Aryanna Bouchard.
